Dame Emma Thompson ( (Londres, 15 de abril de 1959) é uma atriz e roteirista britânica. Citada como uma das melhores atrizes britânicas da sua geração, ela é conhecida por suas representações de mulheres reticentes em dramas de épocas e adaptações literárias, frequentemente atuando personagens altivos ou matronais com um senso de ironia. Nascida em Paddington, Londres, filha do ator britânico Eric Thompson e da atriz escocesa Phyllida Law, Emma foi educada na Camden School for Girls e Newnham College, University of Cambridge, onde ela tornou-se o primeiro membro feminino da trupe Footlights.
