The film narrates the relationship between the leading character, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, and four women: Wanda von Dunajev (the Venus in Fur), Anna Klauer (a single prostitute), the Maid (almost a mother figure), and the Contess Aunt Xenobia (the first sexual impulse).
